The paperboard packaging industry has always been one group proud to promote the recycling of paper products, but until now, it hasn't been able to "fly the flag," so to speak, because of the Federal Trade Commision (FTC) requirement.

Things have changed. The Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) has now announced the availability of a royalty-free logo for all paperboard carton manufacturers to use. The reason for the launch coincides with the collection of paperboard packaging for recycling by now more than 60% of U.S. communities. The FTC, in an effort to dissuade greenwashing, restricts the use of promoting a product as "recyclable" unless it is collected for recycling by a "substantial majority" of consumers. The FTC has said that 60% fits that bill, and so PPC is looking forward to utilizing it in order to further build awareness about paperboard recycling. Bring on the other forty.
