One of the challenges faced by certain sectors of the recycling industry is creating a demand for recycled material. Such demand can create a "pull" for recycling versus the "push" of legislative mandates. Material recovered from tire recycling has many uses, such as in road construction, playground and sports stadium surfacing, molded products and more.
One of those applications is for rubber matting and floor protection for the moving and storage industry. Litco International's new LITMAT™ is designed specifically for that application. Utilizing recycled rubber, the 2mm thick, mostly black matting can be employed in a number of ways, either indoors or outdoors. It is an anti-skid product that provides good footing for professional movers while protecting floors from damage. Litco does caution that the 100% recycled and recylable product is designed only for temporary use on a given surface. If a homeowner uses it on a permanent basis, there may eventually be some transfer of plasticizers in the material over time.
