The U.K. wood recycling sector approves of government's intent to consult industry on restricting wood and other materials from landfills, as announced in the review of wood waste policy.
Clem Spencer, chairman of the Wood Recyclers' Association (WRA), told letsrecycle.com that the measure was 'good news' for WRA members.
"We would naturally welcome a ban because it would divert more waste wood away from landfill," he said. "At our latest meeting in Glasgow we discussed landfill restrctions for wood in Germany and how it was only a matter of time before they were introduced here."
The U.K. wood recycling sector is not currently working at 100 per cent capacity, so the industry has the capacity to generate increased volume for the marketplace.
