With the holiday season at hand and great deals on electronics, it is easy to predict that a record amount of old items will end up being stockpiled in households instead of being diverted to electronics recyclers, posing a challenge to increasing the electronics recycling rate.
Recycling options continue to grow, however, with the announcement that Dell and Goodwill Industries International have added 319 more computer donation sites in the U.S. through the Dell Reconnect program. The free service provides an easy, convenient and responsible way for people to recycle end-of-life computer equipment, according to Dell. . There are now more than 2,600 Goodwill® drop-off locations in the U.S. and Canada giving more than 6.8 million households access to free electronics recycling. The expansion is estimated to divert another 7.5 million pounds of unwanted electronics from landfills annually.
