There are several approaches to composting. These include:
- Composting. Composting can take place commercially, as is shown above at a Harvest Power composting facility in greater Vancouver, or at a household level.
- Windrows. These are columns of compost usually comprising only vegetation. However, some are expanding to take food scraps as well.
- Anaerobic Digestion. Typically this is undertaken at a large scale facility that processes organic material into bio-fuel and digestate, which can be used as compost or as a raw material for other products.
- Feed Stock. One approach is the collection and delivery of quality food scraps to farm animals. This strategy is often well suited to industrial food generators.
