The standard practice for dismantling pallets is still largely based on bandsaw dismantlers and a healthy dose of physical labor.
Jointec, a Swedish-based pallet and cable drum equipment manufacturer, has introduced a robotic approach to dismantling pallets, a first step in a process they envision to fully automated repair. They report that one worker can dismantle approximately 1,000 pallets per shift.
Jointec was formed in 1998, but its founders' roots in the pallet industry date back to the 1980s. The company supplies integrated and fully automated production lines as well as stand-alone equipment designed for special operations.
